Making Time to Blog

I have been swamped with freelance work for what's going on a month now. It's finally happening! It's coming from all different directions and all different clients and to be honest, I'm friggin' exhausted and LOVING it. I'm pushing myself to the limits of mental concentration and efficiency and I'm learning so much.

That being said, I'm not having much time to blog. My view numbers have been WAY down since February, which I have sort of expected. I never intended on really monetizing this blog aside from Adsense (which I still say doesn't work unless you've got HUGE traffic numbers).

Anyways, I'm still posting, still writing, still maintaining. Working on an eBook that I'll be posting here when I finish it. Should be a few weeks at least.

Otherwise, please stay tuned for more blog posts on here or elsewhere. Just because JR's Not So Literal Logging isn't popping, doesn't mean I'm not on my grind. I'm going to do a better job of directing my readers to the locations of my other (relevant) work.

I totally know what you mean! I feel like my blog's been lacking a bit too since I started taking on freelancing side projects. It's a delicate balance...I just don't want my personal blog to feel like "work," ya know?

Absolutely! I think I became too deliberate with this blog at one point and then thereafter felt obligated to maintain a certain seriousness about it.

What do I know, after all? :-p

Really, though... this shouldn't feel like work. I should just be posting whatever fun or interesting ideas pop into my head, as long as they're quick to write and not too consuming.

Thanks for the comment!

I haven't blogged in quite some time, but my little hiatus has very little to do with having other "work" to do. It's also not that I'm feeling a forced obligation b/c I still want to blog. For now, it's a combination of disillusionment, blogging block and sheer boredom with myself. And, perhaps that's bad b/c I'm no longer enjoying myself, but at the same time - I miss not blogging. I can only hope that this passes soon...

Raven, I know exactly where you're coming from!

Last time I felt the way you described I took a "break" from blogging and it was an intentional one. I think it lasted for 2 years. Those two years were full of writers block and I was pretty unhappy. When I started blogging again, it was somewhat forced and the general writers block didn't go away immediately, but eventually the fog lifted a little.

My suggestion, write a little bit, and like Clueless Newlywed said, if it's not coming easy, write about something frivolous that only you want to write about so that it doesn't feel like work!
